19 of the Russian's twenty-one championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually splitting with former coach Cervara.

Currently collaborating with Johansson and his other coach, Medvedev has steadily advanced in the last few weeks - climaxing in a hard-fought three-set triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is his initial championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt after March of 2023.

Success also indicates Medvedev has won twenty-one championships at twenty-one different events.

"This marks the first occasion I am participating in a competition with my both daughters together, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented tennis professional Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my younger daughter Victoria, because the first title I got when my first daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his last six championship matches, including in that event in the past months.

His defensive approach and regular outbursts on the tennis court had prompted observers to wonder if his skill to perform at the highest level was finished.

However the player has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the last five exchanges to take the lead.

The competitors exchanged service breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his first tour championship, took control to push for a third set.

He defended 4 initial chances in a tight final set before the Russian secured a break to that score to secure the win.

Fittingly, Medvedev secured the win with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
