Critical Role Campaign 4 Reveals the Fighters Party

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of characters, and a exciting storyline showcasing divine entities, demons, and dark forces increasing in influence within the urban setting.

Note: Revealing details for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.

The Combat-Oriented Party Revealed

The latest chapter finished on a major cliffhanger and revealed the initial group of adventurers who will separate from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.

The combat-focused team consists of Teor (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).

Dividing the Cast

Given 13 cast members, it was obvious from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.

That’s why, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.

What Defines the Combat Party

Per the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.

Initially, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear mismatched, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these particular heroes are best suited for the Soldiers table.

Reasons to Leave

First, the group has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.

An old friend of Thjazi—whose demise initiated the story’s plot—manipulated the foes for his selfish purposes, entering the secret base, striking the rogue, and taking all the magical artifacts to auction.

The traitor then paid off his debts and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in Gormalay, Timmony, north of the city, with Teor’s brother close behind.

Character Drivers

Moreover, each character has a individual motive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, wants vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their position as important members in House Halovar could assist the party access locations they usually can’t.
  • Moreover, Teor pledged a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Lastly, all of them are hunted by the rulers that govern Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:

  • The rogue and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The strong figure and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • The fighter is wanted dead by the family.

This means them no alternative but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.

Future Episodes

According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we learn that the Soldiers table will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists groups.

Viewers can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be in which group in the story’s last Overture episode, available to watch on next week.
